Dr. Amy Sanchez received her doctorate in physical therapy in 2004 and became an orthopedic specialist in 2010. After working as an outpatient PT for 10 years including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, she began working for home health companies. Getting to see patients in their own homes and to be able to make a direct impact on their lives beyond providing a home exercise program made her want to look for more ways to help patients safely stay at home.
Working with caregivers over the years, she heard complaints about not getting paid properly, not receiving training, continuously getting hurt on the job and overall safety concerns.
In 2020, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, she was faced with the decision to be unemployed or open her own business. She and her husband started Better In Home Care because she thought they could create a better home care business. Her motivation was not only to provide exceptional care to clients, but also to provide an atmosphere of respect for caregivers who love their jobs. Through our training program, our caregivers learn to properly care for our clients’ individual needs. Caregivers also learn how to use proper ergonomics to avoid injury and to keep both them and the clients safe.
Dr. Sanchez uses her Physical Therapy training to screen clients for changes in their risk for falls and recommends following up with their physician for further tests and/or to receive a referral for home health including PT and/or OT. Better In Home Care works very closely with home health agencies to make sure that we are properly following the home exercise program.
